Hi, It's great to see a WordPress group in Lake County! I'm a PR writer at CLC. I look forward to meeting others, learning from them, and having a few laughs along the way! Dave
As a PR writer at the College of Lake County, I have used WordPress to publish an employee news blog for three years. The blog, called Connections, is located at http://connectionsnewsletter.wordpress.com. I post about 5-6 articles each month, combining hard news and features that pertain to faculty and staff.
After 3 years in this format, I'd like to improve the layout, from the vertical stacking of stories, to a look that more closely resembles a Web page. I'd like to find out: 1. What templates do you recommend that are attractive and easy to work with? 2. How can I get away from right-justified type to ragged right? 3. How can I adjust the settings so that writing headlines isn't such a pain? 4. How can I post videos and photo galleries? 5. How can I install a Search box so that people can find stories easily? 6. What are the advantages of moving up to a paid subscription? 7. What are the advantages of buying our own URL? 8. What kind of tech support does WordPress have in case I get into a jam?
